DOUBLE DRAGON?
Just giving everyone a heads up on the upcoming April DRAGON Events. There are plans to go to Marion, Va. for 3 days and experience The Back of the Dragon, highway 16 in VA. I've driven this road several times and it is intense to say the least. Then some of us are going to make a side trip to Little Switzerland via the Blue Ridge Parkway and drive 226A. This road is legendary for the number of serious downhill switchbacks . Afterward, the attendees will venture down to Fontana, NC for several days at the infamous “Tail of the Dragon”. If you have never been, let me say, the S is right at home here...almost purposely built for roads of this caliber.
Everyone knows about “Tail of the Dragon”, but if you've never been to “Back of the Dragon” in Marion, VA, you're in for 32 miles of great driving. “Back of the Dragon” is 32 miles of great driving roads and all with a speed limit of 55mph and NO SEMI's. Transiting three mountains, there are switchbacks, serious curves, elevation changes and off-camber, descending radius turns to challenge the adventurous . All of this is connected with some of the most beautiful, scenic roads you've ever driven. There's something for everyone.
I am leaving April 5th to participate in the IndyCar Parade Lap at Barbers Motorsport Raceway in Birmingham. On Sunday, April 7th will drive to Marion, VA for the “Back of the Dragon” and then on to Little Switzerland and “Tail of the Dragon”.
So if you like to “Hard Drive” instead of “Hard Park” , come on out and experience the car for the reason you bought it!!
The first link is the registation thread for the event. The second one is a Nationwide link to see other S2000 Communities that are planning to go.
