63k Service at Honda - fuel filter
Hi all,
Apologies for the somewhat boring topic!
Even though my car has just ticked over to 40k, it is due for its 63k service.
The following items have been agreed - with Chiswick Honda - in terms of what needs to be covered:
- Replace engine oil (fully synthetic as per Honda specification)
- Replace engine oil filter
- Inspect & adjust drive belts
- Inspect wiper blades / windscreen washer bottle level
- Inspect front/rear brakes
- Check lights alignment and operation
- Check Track rod ends, steering gear box and boots
- Check suspension components
- Check drive shaft boots
- Check brake hoses ad lines, including ABS - Check exhaust system
- Check fuel lines and connections
- Check tyre condition, wear and apply correct pressures
- Full wash car outside
- Full valet inside
They have come back to me and stated the replacement of the fuel filter is missing and is part of the 63k service.
However, my service book indicates otherwise, as seen below:
Now this seems to contradict the service sheet I've found in the Technical FAQ, see below:
Which version is correct, and more importantly, how vital is the replacement of the fuel filter?
I've found the following thread which seems to indicate it's not really a biggie: https://www.s2ki.com/...04-63k-service/
Chiswick Honda are happy to proceed without covering it, but I'd like to check with the experts first - so any advice appreciated .
Thanks in advance... .

I was also told about the fuel filter change when I asked a friend at local Honda dealer what things needed doing next. The fuel filter is in the fuel tank though so a bit of a pita job. Im going to put mine off for a while until I find the time to do it, it's not vital.

Yes, they made a point of how much extra effort it will involve, apparently "0.7 hours" ...and that equates to an extra £103 (including labour & S2KUK club discount) overall .
If you say it's not vital, you seem to concur with the opinions in the thread I linked to in the original post, which is good to know.

The S2000 doesn't have a fuel filter.
It has a pickup gauze which you can see here on the fuel filter:
Very similar to all Honda's, here is one from an, at the time 15 year old car:
And it was perfectly fine

I had mine mine in my hand literally an hour ago, the fuel tank was spotless and the filter/gauze also perfectly clean. My car is an MY06 with 55k miles on the clock.

I have the same page as you in my service book but I have always received the second one (the sheet from the FAQ) from Honda with any service.
Looking at the version in the handbook, I wouldn't use it - notice the diff fluid change after 3 years, then apparently it never needs to be done again! WTF
Like Ron,I always take a picture:

Thanks GavB - interesting point you make about the diff fluid...
Did you just change yours then? Your comments on how clean it was does once again indicate its not necessarily vital.
