Default AD08's on 16's

Just starting to think ahead when I need to change my tyres, the yoko AD08's only come in a V speed rating in the 16" sizes and not a W, am I right in saying that if I fit the V rated tyres then my insurance will be void as the car should have correct W tyres ? at the end of the day a V rated tyre is good for up to 149mph so technically it will be ok but insurance companies may think differently.

Cheers.....Tony..

it's a bit of a grey area - some info here. https://www.s2ki.com/...st__p__20174535

I'd highly recommend the new Bridgestone RE002s

Edit: better info here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/879...t__p__20734202

Maybe worth a phone call to your insurer to ask if the different speed rating will matter. the AD08 is a fantastic tyre

I have just emailed my insurance company (classic line) with my dilema and they sent the following reply,

Hi Tony

Thank you for your email.

We wouldnt have any problems with that, in fact this is becoming more common as some tyres become discontinued and tyre technology changes and improves. All you would need to do is confirm this in writing at the time and we will mark your records accordingly.

Can't say fairer than that really, just need to finish off wearing out the old tyres now

Cheers.....Tony..

Useful information, thanks.

The best thing to do is to check with your insurer to ensure no problems should you have a claim.
