Default OEM Release and Pilot bearing vs. Exedy kit....

Disclaimer before I get into this....this is my own personal observations on both these clutch bearing sets.

I have read about two occasions on the exedy release bearings failing on the exedy oem clutch kit. I bought the Exedy khc06 kit before knowing this and noticed the release bearing that it comes with has no numbers on it other than the one exedy puts. I was told before by them they use the same bearing as honda does..... I was wondering why their bearing has no other part numbers on it besides their own number. My other observations from a personal standpoint, and having dealt with car parts for sometime now, it looks like a cheap replacement bearing. Same with the pilot bearing. So I decided to just order the honda ones from the dealer, and make side by side comparison.

Beside the fact the honda one is made by Nachi, and it says so on it, it does look like a better built bearing to me.And it has the Nachi part numbers on it as well. The pilot bearing is made by NTN with the part numbers on it as well. The exedy pilot bearing looks like it is made by a company called LFD. LFD is a chinese bearing company. I wouldn't doubt the release bearing is a chinese made bearing as well..Here is some photos I took of both bearings.

I'm not a fan of exedy. I know I'll get flamed for that, but the way their clutch disk failed on my car was inexcusable.

nothing worse than a cheaply made bearing, shame on them for cheaping out on an important part as that, Chinese crap is creaping into everything. Good move to go with the Honda parts, I'd do the same thing.

Do they make noise regardless? I installed OEM Honda P-B and makes a little noise than goes away when clutch is pressed

Not sure. Sometimes I have heard if the disk doesn't let the pressure plate sit flat,it may make noise.

It's just the fork and release bearing rattling. The vibrate against each other along with the fingers on the PP.

I know competition clutch kits come with Nachi bearings.

Just get one of those...
