Default anyone know history on this supercharged s2000?

I'm looking at buying my 1st S2000 and saw this one. Can I get your educated opinion if this is a well built S2000 and if all these mods would be a headache or if this would be a cool car to own. thanks in advance for your opinions and what to look out for on this particular S2000.

It has some nice quality stuff. It won't pass emissions with that engine management though, if that's a concern.

I did ask that question and he said it passed emissions and would pass in Tennessee. Maybe I should research further. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah I would look into that more. It has listed an AEM V2 engine management, which is a full standalone that has no OBD2 communication to the port. Its possible some custom one off trickery modifications were performed to get around that, but you will want to find out exactly whats going on there, becuase on paper it wont work. I also noticed from the pic that the factory supplied Comptech rising rate fuel pressure regulator is still being used, which is not necessary when you go with an engine management system like the AEM listed, so that's interesting. Something isn't adding up there. Also find out if the water temp reads (and I think cruise control) is lost when switching to AEM management without extra modifications.

This is a very nice and clean car. I've been to the track many times with the prior owner who originally built it and he is a stand up guy - no shortcuts. The next owner, whom I assume is selling it now, is also a stickler for detail and very nice guy. I was able to drive it for a session at the local track and was impressed. A very complete build with top quality parts - a great multipurpose car (track and street).

Ahh so its had two owners. For some reason I was thinking it was just this one. This car hasn't been driven much. Probably one of the lowest mile 02 in the country. Wonder if this car got the updated banjo oil bolts since this was the transition year. Rather crucial in my book for being an SC car. Hotter then factory oil temps and less rod and piston lubrication bellow vtec where you spend 95% of your driving, isn't a comforting feeling to me. Looking at the Comptech bracket it appears to be an early version so was likely boosted off the show room floor. Wonder how long it was driven before it had the after cooler integrated. A lot of premature motor death before Comptech offered those in their kits back in the day.

Saw this car at the last track(pgp) day I went to buy didn't get a chance to talk to the owner. So another nod that it has been tracked which I think is a good thing cause people who track tend to take care of their car more meticulously then others.

...Because they have to, or shit goes south quick. Personally I wouldn’t buy a car that’s been tracked, unless I have gone through it with a fine tooth comb and everything checks out. Its great to see the car being used as intended, but I have some reservations obviously about the reliability. I know first hand how destructive FI can be when things aren’t dialed in right for demanding use.

I agree. Being boosted does add another level of unknown. Best of luck!
