Default Thinking of moving to the Valley.

Does anyone here commute to the Bay Area everyday for work? Im thinking of buying a house in Mantica/Modesto area just wondering what nightmare you have to go through traffic everyday? My fiance and works at the same place so we can just hit the commuter lane.

Palo Alto and its 79 miles 1 1/2 hour one way.

Am I crazy or is it doable?

that kinda driving will take a toll on your mind body and soul my friend, but on the other side, houses up there are reasonably priced.. catch 22 if you ask me

Don't do it, too much time spend in the car. It could mean 2x hours at work each day, 5 days a week thats 10 extra hours you can put into a job rather than putting that time into SPENDing time and money on a commute.

80 miles? Ehh..IDK. If you can stand the commute it's not bad, but like I said before I personally don't drive the whole way, I use BART. (I'd actually get to SF faster if I did though.)

And to give you an idea, I use roughly 1/3 of a tank driving from Tracy, to Sweethart's cafe and back, and if I had to go to SF, I'd be spending roughly 1/2 a tank. If you are driving your S the whole way, expect to rack up a LOT of miles doing so, so tires and fuel economy will be an real issue. (Plugging 160 a day 5-days a week for 12 months = 38,400 miles...)

Ever considered Livermore? You can find a reasonably priced house around there, and the commute won't be as long.

When you're getting a mortgage or refinancing a home is a great time to think about getting life insurance. There is a website where you can find tons of information and live licensed life insurance advisors who can help you find the right policy. I work for this company and we help a lot of people. It is really easy. Visit our site: http://bit.ly/vD1iLg
