I might have mine mounted tomorrow. If I do, I'll post pics of the weight of the Z1SS compared to Z2 both mounted on the same Enkei PF-01 wheels.

Here's a comparison between the Z1SS and Z2.

I drove them about 100 miles today. The Z2 seems sharper in turn-in than the Z1SS, slightly softer, and overall very similar to the Z1SS. With only spirited local/highway driving there is no way to know yet, but the feel is an improvement.

Both were within 1/8" of each other at approximately 10-3/8" width (17x9 wheels)

Dunlop Z1 SS @ 80% tread depth -- 43.5 lbs, Enkei PF01 weighed in at 17.2 lbs separately prior to mounting

Dunlop Z2 @ full tread depth 45.2 lbs, Enkei PF01 weighed in at 17.2 lbs separately prior to mounting

I just left an all day test in New Orleans at the NOLA Motorsports Park. Obviously BFG wants everyone that was there testing to spread a good word about their new product. I was impressed enough that I plan to buy a set to try under my own autocross conditions.

Most of the popular sizes will be produced for 15-20" wheels. They did not tell us pricing, but say it will be competitive what ever that means. I hope they are less than R1Rs. They will be on the TR web page tomorrow for pre orders. First ones will ship in March. I don't remember all the sizes but the 255/40R17 will be among the first.

Yes it was a lot of fun, wish I had brought my auction mount with video camera...

There were four tests: autox M3 on Rival vs RS3, autox STi on Rival vs RS3 vs R1R, Road course GT500 race prep On Rival vs 615, and skid pad MX5 Cup BFG test G-Force Sport Comp 1 vs Rival vs R1 S.

These tires feel sharp like SS and have a wide useable range before falling off (very forgiving). Temperature distribution was very even compared to others which indicates a very stable construction. We beat the hell out of them and they held up well. Transitions were very fast and would not easily get behind in the slalom compared to RS3 on these heavy (M3 and STi are about 3,400 lbs) cars.

Here is the front left tires of the STi which was an autocross test. For each driver we got 2 runs rival, 2 runs RS3, 2 runs R1R, 1 run rival. There were about 40 drivers of which about 15 were autocrossers.

Rival

RS3

R1R

That's it for now.

Rob, that sounds exciting, you're lucky to attend that event! Thanks for sharing, sounds like your impressions of the Rival were favorable. Any timed results/comparisons to the RS3?
