Sayonara Honda, Guten Morgen Audi
On Thursday I finally got one of my dream cars
So naturally had to take it for a spin this weekend and stretch its legs. BIL has a Boxster S so we went for a 'spirited' drive over the North York Moors to Whitby. Having waited so long to drive an R8, it thankfully lived up to my expectations.
So my initial thoughts..... I was nervous about taking delivery of it and driving it but I shouldn't have been. It was absolutely effortless to drive, whether it was just going through a town at 30mph or over the moors at speed. I had hoped that it would give me that heart pounding feeling like the S does when you are pushing it but it doesn't. When you are driving the S, you feel like it could bite you at any time but this just wouldn't let go. It felt so solid and every corner we took it felt so planted. The noise is fantastic and the feeling you get when you put your foot down is brilliant. It is so comfortable that I actually just want to go downstairs and sleep in it
It is definitely a head turner and attracts compliments, whether it was the young boys bowing down to it when we passed, the young lad hanging out his Corsa with a grin on his face, cyclists / pedestrians waving and shouting what a cool car, or people taking photos of it when we left it in the car park - it just made me smile all weekend.
The downside.... Wish it had had a push button start instead of turn key but that's just a small thing. We averaged 22mpg and have put over £200 worth of fuel in it since Thursday!
And we saw this when we stopped at a pub
The worse bit about it all.....
Audi UK collect it on Tuesday

I do like these.... They are rarer than the similar germans like the one lurking in your garage.
Big trade up from an S

Huge trade up and better than the Bipper van I was demo'ing the other week
Would love to own one but don't think I can afford the running costs!

Audi UK know how much I love this car and have wanted to drive one since launch. I've ordered 30 odd Audi's in the past 2 months so they gave me it for 5 days as a 'thank you'. On Thursday they are taking me to the Frankfurt Motor Show. I seriously hate my job
