Default My battery has finally quit...

It's official. After 10 years, 4 months, and 25 days my ORIGINAL S2000 battery has died. The irony is that I remember asking the salesman back in 2001 if he thought such a small battery could survive even one Upstate NY winter. He told me he thought it could.

Nice run! Mine just turned 8 years old, so I'm banking that it has another 2 years in it. We got more than 9 years out of the OEM battery in my wife's Toyota Solara.

I'm amazed I've gotten as far as I have already on my original. Considering the extra draw of the amp I've been running off of it for the last 3 years...

If it's not a record, well, it's a fantastic attempt. To be honest, I could tell in March that the battery was starting to weaken, but at that point I was just curious to see how much longer it would last without causing any inconvenience. Until yesterday the S always started and never threatened to quit. Yesterday, however, the S refused to start. I hooked up the charger, started the car and immediately took it out for a day of driving back roads in Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins and Seneca counties. I stopped only for gas, lunch at a diner in Savona, and ice cream. Tempting the fates I did not take jumper cables, Jeff, but when an incline was available I parked facing downhill!!! Today, I picked up a new Interstate battery. The end o' an era...

We got seven years out of ours. It has never been disconnected in the winter and the car is stored outside; so I think we did OK.

It died on the second time the car was started in this spring. We didn't tempt the fates, or try to bring it back to life, +1 bought a new one.

My 2002 that I got in June had everything origional including the tires, except for a DIEHARD battery. Something tells me that car sat awhile. I couldn't see on the battery a date so I'll be guessing on how old it is.

Wow, 10 years is impressive! I think my 04 battery is original. I've heard good things about Interstate, I believe that's what Formula H puts in when you need a battery.

My S2 is a 2002 model and just this past April I had to replace the original Panasonic battery. Granted I remove it every winter but not attached to any chargers.
You might have set a record though Skip especially since it's winter driven.
