Default Upstate MOTORCYCLE CHAT thread

It’s this season’s MOTORCYCLE CHAT
Please, we wonder off topic in all our threads, and we have an entire general chat thread that is off topic, so you have plenty of places to go off topic, therefore, please, stay on topic, this is about motorcycles and our activities with them.

Rode the VFR today!!!
Congrats!!!
I'm in Rex today, I have some errands to run and did not want to deal with parking the S at some of the places I have to go
And bike wise for me, I'm happy to say, battery is in, oil and filter have been changed
Starting this thing up after a winter sleep was amazing, I love fuel injection, key on, in neutral, push start button, VFR is running, now that was simple, and awesome
Both side fairing are off and tonight out comes the garden hose
I'm going to try and leave a bit early to get a jump on traffic, I need to pickup a refill container of S100
I was thinking of running out to Spencerport after work, but I should at least call CycleStop, if they have it, and it's within a couple bucks f the Hollink price I just might get it in Henrietta instead and save myself the daylight time driving to and fro Spencerport

I cannot figure out where I put the spare headlight bulb
It should be in the bike bag but it's not there
The hi-beam is out on one of the headlights so I need to change the bulb
Looks like I'll have to buy another

I HATE CYCLE STOP
I HATE CYCLE STOP
I HATE CYCLE STOP

I'm on my way out to Spencerport tonight it seems
I have tried calling Cycle Styop several times today
I have been put on hold several times
I have been been forgotten about once I was put on hold one time, as in for 9-minutes
I have been on hold and had the wrong department pick up, and then hang up on me
I have been as patient as one could be with Cycle Stop
I have called Hollink, was put on hold for about 15-seconds, was then helped out right away
I have zero patience for crappy service, off to Hollink I go

You are completely right, but they are just so close and convenient for me...
I typically go there once a year, get frustrated, leave, and promise I will never go back
Then a new year comes along and I go and subject myself to the abuse one more time, because I'm hoping it got better

Can you do mine? I need tires, but am not willing to part with the old ones yet. I am still having a hard time with spending $300+ on tires that only last 6500 miles.

Last night was a biggie, I'm ready to go for a short ride tonight

I left work at 4:50, went to Spencerport, got the headlight and the S100, on the way back I stopped to get beer and was home by 5:45, I made great time

I got the other side fairing off, sprayed it with S100, and gave it a really good "underhood" bath, now most of the aluminum looks like used silverish aluminum, not some unknown materials covered in layers of black oil and road grime

Fairing back on, key in the ignition, pushed the button, and the silly thing starts right up. Holy cow!!! Had that been the Nighthawk I would have had to wait for days to get the water to dry out enough for the thing to fire up

I think I'm going to call the little bike shop near me and ask if they can do the inspection.

MARK, ever heard anything about Total Cycle, 2151A East Henrietta Road, Rochester - (585) 444-5973 - www.total-cycle.com
Where do you go to get yours inspected, over to Hollink because it is so close to you? This place is only 7.5 miles away from my house

How do you pull that off, are you a registered shop?

Me too, but I'm hoping there is enough meat on them to pass inspection

Get over it Mr. Good Deals, just think about the gas savings and the fun

Installed my heated grips Saturday. The instructions said to use epoxy to glue them down. I have never needed any adhesive in the past, but the throttle side was loose. I ended up using a spray adhesive that I found in the basement. The grip slipped so bad yesterday, that it was difficult to ride. When I got home, I turned the grips on for a few minutes to see if it would help cure the adhesive. This morning it was 90% better. Slipped a very small amount. Not even noticeable while riding. Hope it finishes curing today. The true test will be to run with the heaters on and see if the glue softens.

Love the new controller! So much better than the rocker switch that shorted out everytime it rained.
