Hmmm, interesting. I'm wondering if this is what I hear on my car. I tend to hear a vibrating type rattle when I first start the car if it's already hot. Sometimes here a high frequency rattle type noise on gear change if I'm right at the top end of the revs too. I thought maybe it was a heat shield or something like that, but I didn't know about this. Could it be?

Mine is a my09, and I dont think it ever had the clutch recall done because mine rattles, vibrates and makes a very irritating noise when decelerating in gear from 4-3 rpm. But like some other guys have said, if I have to replace all that gear just to get rid of a noise, im not sure it's worth the bread! (my warranty would surely have expired nearly a decade ago!!) haha

Can that fork be replaced with the gearbox in situ?

Wobbly yes you can take it out without takeing the ttransmission. Just unbolt the slave cylinder. DONT PUSH THE PISTON IN THE SLAVE. Push in and out to the side. A bit of wiggle will get it out.

Interesting! Mine makes a fair bit of noise, does anyone know the part number for that fork?

If its cheap and labour isn't too bad (sounds like it won't take much) then I'll give it a go and report back.

Mine makes a rattle on rundown about 4k-2k and sometimes on idle. Same revs with clutch down and the noises go away. Was convinced for ages it was a heatsheild or something rubbing but the more I've read (and had a few pokes underneath when on ramp) the more I'm convinced this is clutch buzz.

Funny isn't it.

My supplying dealer refused to admit that my car came with a noisy clutch - they said characteristic, Johnsons Honda MK said no, that's something broken.

HondaUK refused to investigate it at cost and a year later when I got the clutch changed, the part that was broken was exactly what Johnsons said it was - all 4 clutch springs were chattering and 2 of them were snapped in half.

I know of another 08 car that's had a few engines that might be suffering from the same problem.

Why people think it's acceptable for a 30k open topped car to sound like a 30 year old MGB is utterly beyond me, especially when there is a clear reason for ALL of these supposed characteristic noises - the only noise i want to hear is VTEC.

Hi all,

I brought a 05 plate a couple of weeks ago and I've been wondering where the rattle sound was coming from. Would any of this have any effect on the clutch performance? I only ask as my clutch is fine whilst drive through the gears but it slips if you try to launch it. Just trying to find out if it's normal on these cars!? Oh and the cars done 37k.

Thats probably not slip, but the clutch relese delay valve thats part of the slave cylinder, try a search to confirm.
