Default 2nd Annual Mt. Baker Import Run - July 16 2011

Hey everyone,

I thought I would post a link to a meet that was just announced yesterday by ImportMeet.com. I helped organize the meet last year that many of you guys attended. The link to the thread on S2KI is here: 2010 Baker Run Thread. We had around 40 cars go last time and they consisted of all makes and models.

July 16th 2011

Pre-Meet – Sunset Square (Cost Cutter parking lot)
1275 E. Sunset Drive
Bellingham, WA 98226
Meet at 9:00 AM – Leave at 10:00 AM

My friends and I are promoting this year's meet pretty heavily and our goal is to fill the entire Heather Meadows parking lot. It would also be great to have quite a few S2000s show up. ImportMeet.com will be providing free hot dogs and NOS Energy Drink will be giving away free drinks/swag!

Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=187189904661404

Note: This is a spirited drive on a public road. Excessive speed and reckless driving is not endorsed whatsoever. If you are driving unsafe, you will be asked to leave the group and not return. You will also not be welcome on future drives.

No burnouts
No racing
No revving
No littering

Thanks! Here are some pics from last year's meet:

So, you're expecting all these folks to drive the speed limit, and pass only when/where/as legal? laudable intent; good luck making it happen....

I have joked about doing that, but I wouldn't have thought anyone would actually be dumb enough to... Well I guess that's not true. I would guess that there was at least one person stupid enough, and I guess that we found him.

I'm not monitoring the speed of anyone driving their car, but as a person helping organize the event, I cannot endorse reckless driving. Passing on double yellows and driving well over the speed limit is not only stupid, but creates a bad image for everyone involved in the drive. I have been a part of and helped organize many of these events in the past and there were only a handful of people who did either of the above. It was noted and they were not welcome on future drives.

I can't prevent anyone from making stupid decisions, all I can do is help promote a safe driving environment. Ultimately everyone is liable for their own actions.

Yea, I remember meeting you. This year should be far better with only 1 meet up spot. Last year's two spots definitely caused some issues. Hope to see you this year!
