Are Axle Spacers required?
I work at a Honda Dealer in parts and a customer called looking for a price on 2 axles. I asked him what happened and he said that "you are supposed to put axle spacers on the S2 if you lower it". He claims his car is making the typical bad axle clicking noise and the reason is because he is lowered. How come I haven't heard about this before?

You don't have to put them in, but it doesn't hurt. The axle spacers bring the axles back to the original spot they were at before it was lowered.
The clicking is probably from not having the axle nut tightened enough. If his axles were bad from being lowered, it would pit the inside of the axles and cause them to vibrate under acceleration.

The vibration is caused by the CV joint wear on vehicles that are lowered after being driven at stock height for an extended period of time (20,000 miles+), although not every car will experience it. If you get the vibration, to eliminate it you can either swap the CV joint buckets from one side to the other or install spacers.
