Default Had My 2011 STi Tuned Yesterday

I took my car over to EQ Tuning in Fairfield, CA to a highly reputable Subaru tuner. I know some of you do not like the looks of the STi Sedan but that is not the point of this thread so save those comments for another day. The power delivery is absolutely amazing. There is an unbelievable amount of power that was unlocked from the factory tune. Full boost is available at 3,100 RPMs. I opted for a safe, conservative and reliable tune. There are plenty of peeps achieving 275-280 off the same mods but my goal was simply to smooth out the power curve and hopefully add 50awhp. We clearly exceeded that goal. We also opted to add a manual boost controller to keep control of boost levels and smooth out the curve even further.

Here's the info and chart:

Event: Custom Tune/Dyno
Location: Equilibrium Tuning - Fairfield, CA
Ambient Temp: 66 degrees Fahrenheit
Elevation: ~100ft above sea level

Car: 2011 Subaru STI
Tuner: ED @ Equilibrium Tuning
Peak HP at RPM: 255.7whp @ 5550RPM
Peak Torque at RPM: 286.3ft-lbs @ 3750RPM
Target Boost: 17.5psi tapering to 13.5psi
Fuel: California 91 Octane

Engine/Power Modifications:

Hallman Pro RX MBC
Perrin Drop in Foam Filter
EQ Custom Tune

Total price of mods and tune $1,147
That's a cost of $17.60 per horsepower gained

That's cool. I guess I'm out of the loop but I just figured that STis made a lot more than 200 whp. I guess I haven't been paying attention.

AWDtrain loss is a bitch, and Ed's dyno reads low. Great numbers and a great tuner

Nice man! When I saw the thread title, I was remembering back to when you had placed your order for the Subie and were looking for comments on power upgrades. Numbers look great coming off the factory tune!

Just think, if you happen to want to get an exhaust one day, those numbers will jump up a lot more!

I'm currently running a stock tune and am content with my performance. I only had the itch to get wheels and suspension.

Now, my question is this.... i wil be ordering a 2011 sti sedan once i get back from my deployment, so, how does the tuning you had done compare to something i can do with the accessport from cobb? im just wondering because the accessport is like #1 on my mod list lol.

With the AP, you have the convenience of off the shelf maps that you can load at anytime. There are the basic stage 1 and stage 2 maps that you can load yourself. You can also keep your stock map on there too for when smog comes up.

You will make gains, but probably not as much as going to a tuner. However, with the AP you can have it custom tuned at a tuner for the better results. We have a Cobb shop opening up here in Cali soon, so the accessability for tuning the AP locally will be convenient.

Nice plot! I'm surprised at the manual boost controller, I thought those were a think of the past and everything was done through mapping these days.

It really depends on the tuner these days. Most like to tune off of an upgraded boost solenoid, which tends to be more accurate than the MBC's.
