Default Question for Honda UK

American Honda Dealer

50810-S2A-003RUBBER ASSY., FR. ENGINE MOUNTINGJPN2 $118.9

Lings Honda UK

PFKL646487 RUBBER ASSY., FR. ENGINE MOUNTING £235.79

Ok so that's each ... and you need two.

Assume an exchange rate and that's £73 if you buy it in America or £235 if you buy it here. I'm well aware my roots are in Yorkshire and that I can turn coal into diamonds with one light squeeze but come on, can anyone tell me how that is even remotely justified?

Oh and what happened to Chris' theory that Honda use transparent part numbers?

They do, the number that Lings quote is not a Honda part number.

Depending on shipping, it's a rule of thumb it's better to buy in the US.

Especially so since O'Bummer's trying to turn the greenback into the Reichsmark in order to inflate away their indebtedness.

It's still rip-off Britain, though!

Daylight robbery is what that is ... i was looking at the prices of engine torque dampers in England, to get something decent is USA engine mount money - will be getting two of those flown over in our accountants handbag when she comes back next month. It's the difference in the price that shocks me, even with shipping, import tax, VAT and any other levy it's still cheaper to buy them in the USA.

I would love to hear Hondas justification for it.

I imagine that the prices will not be set by Honda as such, but by Honda UK and American Honda, and suspect that is where some of the discrepency arises.

Plus (as Nick says) this is rip off Britain, just about everything is cheaper in the US, not just Honda parts....

I know they're a business but if i was a UK Honda dealer, i would be flying my guys out to America to buy stuff enmasse to sell it at UK Prices. You'd only have to make some careful purchases and you could make a mint as well as offering a healthy discount here. When you see Ebay scrap merchants flogging 2nd hand rusted to fook engine mounts for 85 quid + postage you really have to wonder what else we get bled dry for

Engine torque damper mounts to the same side - the engine orientation doesn't change but theirs often foul AC lines etc IIRC.

But with the price of engine mounts being so cheap from the USA ... i'd be inclined to replace those and steer clear of ETD - decent engine mounts would remove the need for one or at least that's my view from what i've read.

I was looking at a CR-Z as a daily this week. To "upgrade" from the standard gear shift knob to the leather and alu version..ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE POUNDS

For a gear knob!

I'd want a replacement real one for that money.
