Default Clutch Debate

I spoke with King Motorsports in WI about a new setup as my clutch is on the way out. They dont like Exedy on NA. They seem to think ACT is a good choice. I on the other hand am leaning toward the Science of Speed Sport clutch with lightened flywheel.

I spoke to a ACT rep over the phone about weather or not their street clutch(not the 6/4 puck) would have the clutch buzz, and he told me that it would. so that is something to think about when looking at your options. I too am currently browsing the market for a replacement clutch and the SOS one seems to be a really good choice, but a little pricey in comparison to the other brands.

how do you make a poll like this and not have clutch masters or competition on the list? and don't get ACT. And if your staying NA than you have NO reason to get an aftermarket clutch.

I actually plan to just have my sp1 flywheel resurfaced. im pretty happy with how light and responsive it already is, I've driven ap2's and it feels really different already. I had a super light flywheel on my previous car and although it was cool, felt a little "too light" for DD duties IMO. I actually was looking at the F1 brand clutch from ebay cause there is another thread on here were people who plan to stay stock or mild mods are using it and like it. its quite cheap but not name brand at all so..there are definitely mixed opinion on it but just something to consider.

Hasan-limited to 10 possible answers, couldn't get them all! And the car will eventually be TC'd, but I can't afford to do it all at once.

if staying NA should stay with oem clutch. Nothing else is needed. If planning to boost later on then depends on the power you are looking for.
For around 400-450hp or so the ACT clutch would be the best imo.
Revised pressure plate now as well since there were some complaints before.

I hate the clutch buzz!

As far as I know, all the clutches do it to some degree.

Are there ones that do not make the noise?

they dont want you to get exedy cuz its cheap and it makes them no $.

The exedy i have is OEM PP, Disk (honda stamps). Doesnt buzz at all. not sure about the bearings, but they appeared very well made. I have a lightened chromoly flywheel (11lb) that I love. I love the setup, I can chirp 2nd gear at WOT on 245 BFG-GF sports (pretty sticky tires - probably a step below star specs). No reason to get a higher clamping force PP if you're NA. Might possibly be harmful to your thrust bearings
