Honestly...after all the other bourbons, Eagle Rare has been by far the worst ever. If someone is in Raleigh...you can have the bottom less 2 oz.
Evans is ok...but still not great. Woodford Reserve is still the best in my book followed by Knob Creek.
Side note: these are my first single barrels...are they that different tasting?

Well finally decided to try some rye. Russell's Reserve Rye 6 year old. Does have some bite to it, soft nose and light color (although not as light as Basil's). Leaves a pleasant, semi-sweet aftertaste...must be the oak. Ice maker is making ice at the moment, so we will have to see how the nature of the bourbon develops with some H2O.
EDIT: H20, imho, makes it taste worse. I shit you not, it literally tastes like dirt...literally.

Did you try some of Ken's rye at WTD?
Since I like bourbon... really did not like the rye....
Still like Makers, Woodford, Blantons, Basil Hayden.....
Gotta go get some Pappy and try it.....

Bought a bottle of Four Roses this evening. Took me a couple of liquor stores to find it, but mission accomplished. Heard and read good things about this bourbon so I decided to give it a shot. Honestly though, I don't like it. Its bitter-sweetness, complexity in wrong areas, and fruitiness (which a bourbon should not be "fruity" imho) makes me wonder if I am drinking a bourbon tailored toward the female population. Not much body and very very light nose. I'm putting this one toward the bottom of the list.
So here are the rankings so far:
Woodford being #1

Interesting. Four Roses Small Batch is one of the better reviewed bourbons. I found it to be a lot smoother than Woodford (which is the only bourbon airplanes carry in Business and First Class). I used to really like Knob Creek but after tasting 46 by Makers Mark, I actually prefer that. You might want to look for Four Roses Single Barrel which is made in even smaller quantities than Small Batch. (I'm also surprised you found it "sweet", but that may have come from the barrels being used to age the bourbon).
