Default DIY clutch replacement w/ pics (science of speed kit)

not enough information on this topic.

for a while i thought about ACT PP, FW, oem disk combo from hardtopguy. started having 2nd thoughts about it after finding out that owners with the same setup complaining about the clutch buzz.

now, i am leaning more towards SOS setup. NO BUZZ MOST IMPORTANTLY, better clamping force than ACT PP, improved OEM disk.

Search better

I have the kit paired with an ap1 flywheel in my SOS 6 psi/Base SC kit on my 2005 and I'm very happy with it.

There are plenty of others that run this clutch.

It's a toss up either way. ACT supposedly fixed the buzz. IHMO one thing is for sure. Lighter the better on the flywheel. Mine is 7.55lbs and I wish it was lighter.

much does the ACT XACT PROLITE weigh?

ACT Prolite 600350 8.60 lbs
Fidanza 7.55 lbs
Toda 8.36 lbs
AP2 21.50 lbs
AP1 14.00 lbs
Comptech 9.20 lbs
Spoon 9.20 lbs
Competition Ultra 8.50 lbs
Competition Light 11.50 lbs
Spec 8.x lbs
Centerforce 14.00 lbs

I got the ACT and it's just a tad on the too light side. I have a feeling 10~11lbs would be the sweet spot.

ACT does not make a 11lbs'er for our cars for some reason.

Awesome post.

I also have an ACT Prolite but I think I made the right choice. It is much easier to drive than I thougt it would be.
