SAT OCT 2 - Rensselaer-Columbia Drive
UPDATE:
HERE IS THE FINAL ROUTE
START TIME: 10:30 AM
LOCATION FOR START: PARKING LOT OF HANNAFORD SUPER MARKET
(USE THIS FOR GPS: 3703 NY Highway 43, West Sand Lake, NY 12196)
ADDRESS: Rt 43 and 150, West Sand Lake, NY 12196
TOTAL DRIVING DISTANCE: 90 MILES
TOTAL DRIVING TIME: Approx. 3 hours
DRIVING DISTANCE TO LUNCH STOP: 46.2 MILES
LUNCH AT: MEXICAN RADIO http://www.mexrad.com/
WHAT TO BRING:
- You will need a quarter to pay for parking in Hudson when we stop for lunch. Quarter buys you 2 hours of parking.
- Bring your +1 or a friend. This is a drive to admire scenery and look at foliage and an opportunity to get some memorable pics. Also Mexican Radio (our lunch stop) has great food and your plus one or friend will appreciate you bringing them along
- Bring cash for lunch and icecream. We will ask for separate checks, but if the restaurant can't do it, then we will split it evenly, if it works for all.
- Also bring cash for Go-Karting. Lickety Split our final stop is located in the Funplex Fun Park and they have a go-kart track that I think we must all do. It will be a lot of fun.
PLAN OF ACTION:
- Start drive at 10:30 AM from the parking lot of the Hannaford Super Market in West Sand Lake.
- Drive past Glass Lake & Crooked Lake onto Burden Lake.
- Stop near Kay's Pizza in Burden Lake by the water for a photo shoot
- Head on south down back roads into Columbia county going past Nassau Lake and Kinderhook Lake
- Get onto Route 66 and continue heading South, stopping for another photo-op at Crellin Park
- Drive to Hudson, NY and park in a public parking lot.
- Lunch at Mexican Radio
- After Lunch, head up towards Albany on Rte 9 and then merge onto Rte. 9J following the Hudson and take an Eastern route just before getting to Castleton-upon-Hudson.
- Drive along some more scenic roads eventually merging onto Rte9 North
- Take a detour along 150 and then 151, onto Rte.4 to get to Lickety Split
- Icecream and Go-Karting fun at Lickety Split
MEETUP LOCATION:
I'm attaching two pictures for you from Google Maps. When coming from the West on Rte 43, you need to go past the Rte.150 Intersection and Hannaford will be on your right. See the images below.
For those potentially coming from CT (Blueosprey90, Centurion S2K & Red Stwokay):
If coming north on Rte 150, Turn Right on Rte 43 and the Hannaford will be on your immediate right.
If heading WEST on Rte. 43, Hannaford will be on your left before the Rte.150 intersection. Look out for the West Sand Lake Fire Station on the left. The Hannaford is right next to it.
