Default Recon troubles

So I went to renew my registration today and was informed that my car has been flagged for not having recon. Because of this I am unable to do anything with my car till I either go back to stock (not an option as I no longer have stock parts) or go get recon. With this in mind I know I'm not the only one who's had trouble with recon issues so I propose we come together to fight this and perhaps all help get recon so we will no longer get penalized. I know Alex is parting his car out because of all the tickets.

I'm looking to gauge interest...who is interested in getting recon? And if you are who is willing to get together to brainstorm some ideas?

sorry to hear lee. didn't know the c&c were placing holds on registration for no recon...

we can try and fight it as a completely stock s2k can't even pass the bounce test.

i'm also down to attempt the process of obtaining recon. i believe sean and edgar are the only ones that have passed.

Yeah Sean and Edgar plus another member obtained but many more have failed. Alex and I are planning a small get together to see what we can do.

I'm in for brainstorming. do you still need to get recon if you go 2 sizes up in wheels? so from 17" to 19"?

edit: just read on a taco forum that you don't need recon on wheels changes, just suspension changes.

Just got off the phone with recon and if you get recon you only have recon with the wheels you were inspected with. So if I get recon with my spoons the TEs are not covered and I am liable to lose my recon for changing the vehicle after getting inspected. Ironic because wheels are not a recon item.

ironic indeed. found this long document which covers recon but not sure if it includes the changes since it was written. it is published on the dot website tho. page 41 gets into suspension modifications. http://hawaii.gov/dot/highways/admin-rules...2024%201986.pdf

Yeah I was reading through that earlier. And it's dated as of 1986. That was the law that I was given when I questioned them today about the multiple sets of wheels being covered

I guess that leaves us to discuss ideas on how we can work the system and get recon for a car that stock will not pass. Who all is interested in getting recon? I will keep this as a running recon thread and I will edit to have a list of all that are interested so we can try to work as a team to get all our cars legal in the states eyes. I been running around with my car illegal (no recon) for over 3 years now and it's finally caught up to me and I would like to use this as a point to help me and everyone else who is modded
