Saris Bones Bike Rack

Saris Bones Bike Rack
Just got my Saris Bones 2 and done a test fitting.
I can get the top and bottom straps in on the boot lid fine but the side straps don't fit in the gap.
Where's the best place to secure the side straps? I tried kinda on the boot lid as it curves round on top of the rear lights.

That's the only place I could get it to fit. I'd be interested to see how yours is set up, I've fiddled around with mine and struggle to stop in squishing the bumper etc.

We found the side ones useless so went to Halfords and got some different ones - grip a lot better.
With regards to 'squishing' the bumper, we put ours at a much higher angle so that the bottom feet were on the boot lid just above the bumper.

I'll have to try it with the feet on the boot lid, didn't think it would go on that way.
Would be happier not have to on the bumper as I did notice it was pushing down on it.

I've tried on the boot lid, but they slipped down, and if I tightened the top straps, the foot started to push the boot in. Where do you position the top foot/feet? Photo would be good!
You replaced the side straps with ones with grippy hooks?

If you are not very careful on the angle you pick it can leave marks or worse - a pressure dent - in the car ...
I put a dent on the top of my Golf's tailgate via the Saris Bones 2 .... through rushing fitting it .... it looked OK but wasn't - and the worse bit was the dent people couldn't get the dent out as it was a double skinned area
I haven't had the bottle to try it on my Z4 as a result !

Haven't dented the boot yet although a stone caught in the footpad did scratch the paintwork on my last S so be warned. If you keep the straps tight enough it shouldn't slip but it does take us about 20 minutes to make sure it's all tight and adjusted once the bikes are on it.
When I get a minute I'll get it put back on the car and take a picture - only one I've got at the moment is from the back and with the bikes on so you can't really see the angle of the rack.

Anyone got any pics of this on the car???
Considering heading up to the Lake District for the weekend and would be nice to take the S. I don't think putting 2 bikes on the boot rack with work
Has anyone had any problems with it staying on ??
