Since I don't make money from amsoil, Redline blends are the standard: mtl mt-90 (25:75%)

This is my latest UOA of LE 1605. I didn't plan to change it so early, but the Amsoil MTF needed changed so I changed all the fluids while it was on jack stands. It's a new lab for me, and wish they had given V100C instead of V40C data.

Some iron but c'mon.. 17ppm is nothing.
How much on the magnet?

The difference between 206 cst. and the listed 229 cst. is also not much.
With good oil the diff doesn't run that hot anyway.

Nothing on the magnet, and the fluid looked as clean as virgin. I'm very impressed with this lube, even though I was disappointed to see LE discontinue 607 initially.


BTW, I sent in a reference sample of 1605. We'll see what the real V40C is as well as everything else when it comes in.

How many miles were on this fluid? (Maybe I'm blind but I didn't see it listed.) Thanks for continually posting this type of data, INDYMAC. It's very helpful and informative.

wow Jack, that is one impressive diff UOA, without a doubt the lowest wear we've ever seen, even if you tripled the miles it is still very low. Not a lot of anti-wear addtives other than boron, small amount of zinc ?. How does that viscosity relate to 100c ?. The fluid strength must be amazing, no wear on the magnet is great too. Nice UOA Jack. I was hoping to have on from my car this year but since my engine tanked it will have to come next year as I won't get many miles on it this year. I'll have a 1605 sample next summer. The main additive in GL5 gear oils are sulfur and phosphorus. This lab doesn't test for S. LE takes all their lubes one step further with proprietary additives. In this case it's Duolec. Whatever that is, it won't show up on a UOA because it's non metallic. LE has always stated, that without their proprietary additives, their lubes would be just like everyone elses.

That makes sense, I was wondering about sulphur, not sure if I smell much of it in the LE product , but they could have a number of additives that don't show up. Whatever they are using seems to be working well.

I am just finishing break-in on the new engine, about 300 miles and it has been feeling stronger every day, no oil consumption within the first 300 miles which is a good sign so far. It feels good to drive the car again, haven't put any miles on it since April.
