Default Mitsubishi Mirage - If hell were an automobile

I got stuck with a new Mitsubishi Mirage rental car. It's the freaking slowest car I've ever driven (except for maybe a mid 80s diesel non-turbo Mercedes wagon). I had my co worker clock my 0-60 run as we got on the highway and it literally took 15 seconds to hit 60. My 70 hp Civic CX was faster than this thing. Also, the backend breaks loose in the rain with any amount of steering input.

I realize this isn't the most insightful post, but I couldn't NOT comment on this crap basket, third-world sled.

The cars are still in rental fleets. I got one recently, and swapped it for a Ford before leaving the parking lot.

Yeah, I took it back today and swapped it out for a Jeep, which also sucks, but sucks less. Haha.

I've always wanted one of those bad boys. You can buy one brand new for less than $10k.

P.S. I had a 1986 Isuzu I-Mark as my first car. 60hp, 3-speed automatic. I clocked 0-60mph in that thing using my Mom's stopwatch (she was a PE teacher). 19 seconds. So, the Mirage is a rocket ship by comparison.

MSRP isn't under $10k, but I've seen ads for just under $10k with rebates and dealer discounts.

From what I've read it's supposed to be good, dependable car if you can get past the cheapness and slowness of it. It's supposed to get terrific gas mileage as well. I'd like to give it a try.
