Default Current go to oil

In light of Castrol changing their Edge formula to titanium fst. ( I'm sure it's fine but I'd rather go tried and tested until I hear otherwise).

What alternative would be best for normal UK conditions? I know the viscosity should be 5w40 but what brands/types are the very best?

Thanks!

Most people here use 5w40 Castrol; whether its the Edge variant or FST. So you are good to go

I have used edge 5/40 for years with no problems. However I have recently bought some Shell helix 5/40, 10 litres for £40 from ECP in Jan sale, if it is good enough for Ferrari then good enough for me.

Edge in mine and not much gets harder use I'd guess.

The only tried and tested reviews you get on here or any forum are 'I use xyz and it's really good'

You won't know without a strip down over long term use. Just use whatever

Thanks guys.

I'm not dead against the edge titanium and will go for it if it's the best option but if there is a better option however slight id go for it. Money isn't an issue for peace of mind I guess.

What are people's opinions on Motul 300v?

I've used Motul too. No problems.

What would mean a better option to you? Better mpg / smell / etc?

Im not being difficult but I don't think anyone car really say what is a better option as it would be mostly based on non factual things.

Like I could say 'use Edge as it's the best thing ever and my engine hasn't blown up' but that could be true of any oil. Likewise, you probably won't get anyone saying 'I used Millers amd my engine blew up' because it would be difficult to attribute to the oil.

Any main brand oil will be fine on the S2000, but Edge is the most popular. There's many threads / polls on it.

I guess by best I mean best quality Base oil, best additives. Least engine wear caused if that's even quantifiable!

Like you say though it's probably nigh on impossible to judge as it based pretty much solely on opinion.

If it could be proven to me the likes of Motul or Fuchs is worth the extra then I'd definitely go for it.

Otherwise It seems Edge Titanium is they way to go currently??
