Sometimes cheap parts work OK. Sometimes cheap parts from eBay work good enough. Never the best, never great, but sometimes enough.

This is not one of those cases. It seems no one makes a clutch that really lasts in these cars. Also aftermarket clutches often have clutch buzz (that was common on early S before Honda fixed it).

Since its so much effort to replace a clutch, this is not an area you want to skimp. Go OEM. For the clutch. For the TO bearing.

How do spec clutches hold up on the s2k? I ran one on my ep3 when I was boosted and it held up strong for years. If I ever needed to replace the clutch due to making more power I would go spec again. But I never see anyone run em on here .

The problem with most aftermarket clutches is that the springs are not as well encapsulated as the honda OEM disc and then they fail because the spring breaks free from the friction disc

Heres an example of the difference (pic courtesy of billman250). OEM Honda On the left. Act on right

Multiple spring pockets failed in my Spec stage 3+ after only 15k miles on an n/a motor. Got it expecting to supercharge soon after, but never got the money together back then. It also buzzed badly from day 1.

I will never give them another cent of my money.

There is used factory oem clutches on Craigslist for around a hundred would that be a better choice? Can you mix match the friction disc with different manufactures? Use different bearings? I don't drive the car much don't race don't abuse it but don't baby it. Just thinking about a cheaper alternative to get car back on the road. Thanks in advance everyone.
Please please please, just do yourself a favor and save for an OEM clutch. Yes there are some other pressure plate options like the ACT but even those have mixed results.

the best, smoothest, longest lasting will be 100% OEM. yes even the throwout bearing and pilot bearing.

I unfortunately did not listen my first go round. I need to replace the clutch in my car and its the second Exedy kit I have gone through, they seem to fail the throwout bearing after about 1000 miles. They literally pull apart.

DO NOT GET THE EXEDY.
It sucks, my clutch was doing all kind of weird stuff.
Random stiffness, weird noises, sticky pedal.

Got the OEM installed now it is normal again.
Just get the OEM, you will save more in the long run.

130,000 miles currently on OEM disc and bearings in the track car. Still operates like brand new.

Countless customers running OEM for 8 plus years.

Expect the Exedy to fall apart in 20k like clockwork, and expect clutch buzz from minute one.
