newest-strange noise
I just had MY01 closed deck sleeved by inline pro with 87.5mm 11:1 cr CP Pistons, ACL main and rod bearings. Everything else in the block and valvetrain is stock.
This noise goes up and down with the RPMs and sounds like a gas powered RC car. It's louder during a cold start up and slightly lowers when the engine is at operating temperature.
I triple checked all of the alignment marks for the cam chain and sprockets from the block on up to the head and the valves are adjusted properly. I also started the car while it was cold without the serpentine belt but the sound did not go away, ruling out possible idler pulley noise...
Recently The noise now sound like it is coming from behind the crank pulley but it's hard to tell exactly.
The car runs fine other than the ridiculous sound! I have messaged Billman250 and he suggested it's possibly an over tightened chain but is that possible given that the cam chain is automatically tensioned? Also, I don't know if the chain tensioner has ever been replaced. This sound wasn't there before my rebuild.
The video clip is from moments after my first start up.

Thanks you guys for the replies. That is one of my concerns but I was looking at the pics I took during my install and there isn't anything that could be touching it... I am going to drop the oil pan, pull the cam chain cover and replace the oil pump tensioner this weekend if my friends TCT doesn't solve the problem. I will post back with the results!
