I know these beasties need super unleaded/super plus/v power or whatever the individual manufacturers call it.

However does that mean 98ron. But I've filled up today for the 2nd time at local descent fuel spot, and realised Esso do 97ron.

Is this an issue, because I was going to post up about idle timing being occasionally lumpy and the occasional drop in rpm when coming to a stop and putting into neural, it drops to about 4-500rpm before settling about 800.

It varies from year to year. Look inside your petrol flap and there should be a sticker which tells you what's what.

Thanks, will check the sticker. I just found it odd that esso do 97, when I thought it was 95 or 98.

could explain some lumpy idling... will have to find a new fuel station, all I have around here is Jet, Morrisons, Tesco or this Esso one.

Use a fuel system cleaner to see if it clears it if you think its a fuel , injector etc...

I wouldn't be too concerned about the fact that Esso's fuel is 97 RON...it's good quality which is more to the point.
I'd choose Esso's 97 over Tesco's 98 any day of the week!
My Dad worked in the oil industry for many years at a senior level and if you heard what happens in the refining process to supermarket fuels I swear you'd never touch them again...I don't!
Yes, they do all come from the same place, but it's what happens to them during refining which is what's important i.e. the crap that gets added.
Trust me, use the well-known brands and avoid Tesco, Asda, etc. like the plague.

Just do an MPG comparison if you don't believe me...e.g. Shell, Esso vs shit supermarket fuel, because I know for a fact that I get 1 or 2 MPG more from the former.

I love my shell membership card.... last month I got £7.50 free fuel.... always v power for the s2000 and kawasaki ninja.

Usually higher ron is better as a rule of thumb. Give her the good go go juice as often as possible.

They are all generally refined the same, it's the additives and cleanliness post refining that makes the difference.

Many tanks of fuel over the same journey, conditions etc, showed that Sainsburys SUL was the best value for money - thay was in my JDM too. Shell was too expensive to be cost effective IME.

Tesco's Momentum is 99RON!
