Default REPLACING Windshield tape

I'm the 3rd owner of my S, and the windshield tape was gone when i purchased it. I'm thinking about replacing it. Anyone know where to source it from? Would I be better off just going to a vinyl wrap place and have them do it? Is it flat or glossy stock?

Thanks.

Maybe a little too ghetto of a solution for you guys but you could just use a satin or gloss black rattle can made for automotive trim. Probably cheaper and easier than repurchasing the tape.

The tape is about $150. About $40 for install.

The installer I had do it stated that by the time he charged me to use cut and use generic tape, it would only be a little cheaper. He suggested staying with factory tape as it will be cut perfect and is actually thicker and more durable than his aftermarket vinyl.

I haven't reapplied it to the S because I like the way it looks off but I have added it to my MR2 spyder. It was super easy to do if you have a little patience and a few brand new razor blades. I ordered a piece of 3m vinyl from Amazon similar to this one http://www.amazon.com/3M-GLOSS-Black...3M+Gloss+Black.

The 5x1 ft strip was plenty for the entire WS frame. The process is pretty self explanatory, clean the frame thoroughly, then cut the strips to the length for the side with a little overlap so you can cut it to fit on the car. Use a clean smooth credit card so push all the bubbles out while laying it down, don't try and lay it and then push the bubbles out. Next trim the edges so they're just long enough to be able to be tucked under the rubber trim. Repeat for the other side and then lastly do the top center section. Make sure the seams are even on both sides with about a 1/4-1/2 inch overlap.

As someone mentioned already, I would advise a PlastiDip route.
Much more inexpensive and about as durable & easy to remove as vinyl - not to mention there would be no seams on around the front windshield.

The black vinyl on mine is already cracking from sun damage so I'm thinking of going this route.
Anyone done so yet?
