Sebring AP1 Build Thread
Here I am back on S2ki!!! After being mia for about a year now. I did restore another Ap2 for myself which I drove for about a year and only put 5k miles on her before some guy from Kansas came and picked it up yesterday. But here is my new project. Here is my S that I just got rid of.
And now on to the s2000 that's up for restoration. A 2003 Sebring Silver. The car I purchased from the auction after seeing the damage was very minor even though it looks crazy in the before pictures. But other than the damage, the car's exterior and interior are in immaculate shape. I cannot find a single dent on the whole car.
Here are the before pictures.
She met her sister for the first time
Basically the previous owner hit a pole but a slow speed. Even though it looks crazy, it is not really bad at all. Luckily the damage was right in the middle of the two frame rails and none were touched by the pole or whatever was hit. Only the left side frame's tip was bent by like a cm because the bumper reinforcement teared up with it.
I took the whole car's front end off and got it ready to go to the body shop to get the radiator support piece straightened since it was bent a little. And then paint the car after I install everything properly myself. I can only trust myself with my s2000 now.
Here are how the car looks after the body shop fixed the tip of the frame. Straightened out the radiator support and welded it back together. Now he has to clean up the welds, paint them then I will be installing the new parts back on her.
The rail that had the little tear/bend on the tip. Straighted and claned up.
The radiator support he undid, fixed and then rewelded it so its perfectly straight now. Just has to clean up the welds, paint them and then I will be doing the reassembly.
The bottom support piece had a tiny bend in it too so I had him pull it while she's there.
Straight frame? 100%
While everything was off, I made sure all the shock towers etc were not harmed by the incident and surely enough, everyhthing looks the way they are supposed to be.
Got a good deal on a brand new Shine front bumper. ASM style. Will be putting that badboy on her instead of oem. Yes, its on my bed
To pull off the crazy front end, I'm going to put some 25mm spacers at least for now to get the tires flush with the body until I find a nice set of wheels to pull the aggresive front end off. Something like this will do for now.
(Above two pictures do not belong to me. I am just sharing them to show how the spacers will look like).
Info on the car is basically all bone stock minus the carbon fiber trunk and hood. The hood is going to be replaced with a oem one and I might do the same with the trunk. idk yet. Ap1 naked headlights which I am planning on redoing and may be mulderize them. We will see. It has a skunk2 dual exhaust which im excited to hear. Brand new tires on the ap1 wheels so I will rock those for a while before I upgrade.
As far as them mileage on the car, I am confused since the mileage at the auction was one thing and the title says another. Weirdly enough I havent checked it yet on the car since the battery has been dead since they day I bought it lol. Started it once but didnt pay attention lol. Will verify that soon.

Been busy with school and my other S2000 project that I just picked up as my track car. Here is the build thread I started for her.
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/106...#entry22917133
Anyways!! Updates on this bad boy
I came across a pair of ASM Replica fenders so I picked them up. Worth as shot to match with my ASM bumper
Just holding it on with my hand here and the fitment isnt bad. The next day I bolted them on and they looked great but im still thinking whether to go OEM front end and fenders or ASM.
Anyways, the core support pieces came in and I put them on for test fit to see how they are before I send it out to paint.
Thanks to Infinite Motion Racing, San Marcos, CA for quick delivery and unbeatable prices on all the OEM pieces I needed, and also thanks to all the members on Facebook S2000 Parts page and Marketplace here. Found the parts easily
Test fit with OEM fenders and everything looks good.
Headlights I thought were f'd up but today I realized that I hadn't put the triangular brackets in the back hahah. That's why they are chillin and leaning back
That's the updates so far, the radiator and everything else came in. I might do a trade with OEM bumper for the ASM so waiting on that. Once I figure that out, everything is coming off the car for paint. Welded spots will be primer and painted of course and then she should be ready for the front end to be resprayed and then

Keeping the thread updated for future to keep track of what was done to the car so here is an update. 2-3 ago went to check on her, and she looked like this. Front end on minus the headlight brackets. Got the hood for free so couldn't complain on the sctraches and was going to get painted regardless
Went in today and my painter actually wasn't being lazy and was painting her as I walked in.
^I believe that was the 2nd coat of base when I took the pic.
Looks beautiful in person. Yes some will say it's paint job without a booth so won't be as good but you will know when you see it in person. Finish and match is perfect. Better than what a lot of shady "High end" shops do and at a fraction of the price with lifetime warranty. I am happy with it. Will post more pics once i get her home
