Default New pricing structure for main dealer services?

Hi all,

Having called around for quotes for my upcoming 72k service interval (has covered less than 45k), I made an interesting observation....

3 garages continued to price up the service as they have always done over years, this included Ruislip Honda, Southall Honda and Slough Honda. They all came out around the £260 mark, give or take £20. Whether this is read directly off a guide or priced up individually (parts, labour, VAT), they seemed consistent.

I then called Chiswick Honda, who informed me that the pricing structure for all services for all cars has now been revised by Honda and they are still ''getting to grips" with it because its very new. So when I requested a quote for the 72k service, they mentioned it would be a flat £165 (oil + oil filter + standard inspection) plus a chat about 'other items required' on the day. I didn't quite agree, informing them a change of transmission fluid is at least required as part of the 72k service for the S2000. So they just added it on top. Shouldn't be my place to tell them what is and isn't included but that's another story.

I was a little skeptical when first informed, but having just looked on the Honda website, it seems as though the pricing information is correct:

-- Then select 'CARS 3 YEARS OR OLDER'
-- The price appears as £165.

For reference, the service book and service specification sheet (which contradicted each other anyway!) can be seen [HERE].

Does anyone else know much about this flat pricing? Strange that the first 3 garages didn't mention it.

Thanks .

Seems it's a new thing - there have been a couple of posts about this this week. Good news, I'd say.

Very interesting on this as I saw flat fees from Crowns Honda in Hendon but in small print its says excludes Honda S2000 and NSX

Honda is trying to make more money on rarer cars like the S2000 and NSX

"Honda Happiness" always used to exclude NSX and S2000, it seems this new scheme just excludes the NSX.

This is from another recent thread regarding fixed prices for certain jobs: http://www.aylesburyhonda.co.uk/cars...pairs/repairs/

Thanks - sorry I must have missed the other posts. At least its being talked about by others then, and my experience wasn't just a one-off conversation with an ill-informed member of Honda staff.

I'd rather sell my soul to the devil than take a car for servicing at a main dealer.

I agree here, my experience has always been disappointing and somewhat downright illegal (trying to charge me for an air con re-gas on a car with no aircon!) as well as being charged for parts that have nothing wrong with them!

But that's off topic, the pricing seems fair by Honda and is good news!

Looks like you don't actually get much for your money + an extra £100 to change brake fluid and two filters!!!! bearing in mind parts are extra unless the policy has changed. Like Ricnos said they always try it on, like charging £2.50 for washer fluid when it left home top to the brim.

I can see from the link that any S2000 would need the "tailored service" that has these additional costs-

MOT - £45 (*£35 with service)
•Air Filter - £38
•Pollen Filter - £38
•Fuel Filter - £100
•Steel Plugs x 4 - £75
•Steel Plugs x 8 - £120
•Iridium Plugs x 4 - £145
•Iridium Plugs x 8 - £225
•Air Conditioning Service - £65
•Brake Fluid Change - £50
•Coolant Change - £65
•Transmission Fluid - £75
•Front Brake Pads* - £110
•Rear Brake Pads* - £110
•Front Brake Discs & Pads* - £270
•Rear Brake Discs & Pads* - £270
•Break Shoes (R) - £140
•Front Wipers (Pair) - £25
•Rear Wiper - £15
•Battery - £95
•Drop Links (each) - £100

That's right £145 for a set of plugs and £50 for brake fluid, all plus VAT of course, they really don't want your custom any more.

Do you know when these prices were enforced?

Thanks
