Default NGK Iridium IX BKR7EIX-11

Sup Guys:

Has anyone here had any experience with these spark plugs?

I just installed these spark plugs on my car and it seemed to lose some torque. I re-installed my NGK Platinum back on, and the car ran better.

Do the NGK Iridium IX plugs need to be broken in?

Thanks.

I have run them for a while and they seem to work fine for me. I have mine gapped at .044".

Some people have stated that the plat. oem plugs run better but I can't for the life of me figure out why that would be. Technically speaking the Iridium plugs should work better over the long term as the center electrode is thinner and it doesn't erode as fast as plat., and they feature a tapered ground electrode. Maybe the gaps were out of spec ?.

Did you disconnect the battery when you put these in? If so you should let the car idle for 10 minutes after reconnecting the battery so that the ECU can re-learn throttle position and idle. Not doing so can make the car feel a little sluggish when driving around.

Those should be good plugs.

FWIW....I run NGK Copper BKR6E or BKR7E in my 03.Gap =.040

Runs great and the plugs have a good burn color when removed.

Only $2 ea.

IMO.....

The authorize dealer who I bought the plugs from said they were already pre-gap to .044". I'm going to take them out tonight and double check.

Also, I'm running Hondata EMS flashpro and had a e-tune done two weeks ago. Going to reset the ecu and run these plugs for a thousand miles and see if the results change.

Thanks for the replys!

There are a few versions of those plugs sold in different packaging. The ones that come in individual cardboard boxes with the cardboard ring gap protectors should be pre-gapped decently, the plugs that are sold in plastic packaging aren't necessarily pre-gapped and usually require gapping. I have purchased them both ways.

One thing I have noticed with plugs is that some designs give you a smoother running engine and that can sometimes feel like a loss of torque, it's a funny sensation that I have felt before. At the end of the day no person can really detect a loss or gain of power of 5whp or less, and I am positive a plug change is not going to give you a loss or gain of 5whp. What you are feeling should not be a significant change in power.
