I think more people need to read this. Too many people think that to go faster you have to dump huge amounts of money into the car, when in reality investing in the driver through track time will net the biggest gains.

Driver training is where its at!

IMHO, driver training is a prerequisite, but at least with SCCA National racing it THEN winds up being a money race. NASA TT is different with driver ability being the limiting factor, but at the National club racing level you're going to have a pretty robust budget to compete at the highest levels. Drivers skill only gets you so far.

 

Nice write up. I like it, you have some very good points. I am hoping that I can get into track day events. I have finally gotten my feet wet into autocross and I am pushing myself and have improved a lot over the past year.
