Camera Mounts
I want to mount a video camera in the car, but I'm not sure which mount to go for. It needs to have a standard camera mount thread, and be as vibration-free as possible. What would you folk recommend?

http://modifry.com/products/mounts/c...windscreen.htm - this one is pretty good, goes on top of the secret compartment.

I'll be copying that. I've been promising to take my Mum out for a top down spin this summer and want to capture her reaction when she experiences VTEC for the first time.

Modifry bracket is great, they do a low profile one as well with less adjustment than the normal mount but its still good enough for what i need. I use Modifry low profile mount along with a LIC EGO Camera, £110 and provides 1080p and built in wifi to operate the camera via your mobile. Its a great combination

I made one from a bit of wood, a metal bracket I found in the garage and a tripod bolt:

It does use the 2 wind deflector nuts in the lid. I bought some longer m5 bolts and wing nuts so I can undo them by hand.
I do like the way that with the modifry one you don't have to keep taking the deflector off but the one pictured above looks quite tall and makes me think it'll wobble if you've got a heavy camera.

I have this one:
But it is only any use if shooting behind, if looking forward all you see is the rear view mirror. The top of the secret compartment isn't a particularly good location for a camera, needs to be lower.
Dash or window mounts work better if you can do without in-car action.

The low level Modifry mount solves the "rear view mirror" problem to an extent, although a heavier camera is better for reducing vibrations:
