Evolution of JSUTAI S2000
Hello Everyone,
As some of you may know, I’ve finally parted ways with my beloved S2000, which has more then served it's purpose as a daily means of transportation. I’d like to share with you the many variations of my car since it was purchased completely stock in 2008. I have always admired the OEM styling and factory body lines of these cars and therefore never did much body work to alter that. The obvious front lip and rear wing were subtle modifications added early on. The shaved mirrors, while a bit more extreme, were done later to further accentuate the body lines. I found the S2000 to be the perfect platform to display my funky, aggressive and unique style via various wheel, suspension and vinyl setup’s that have came to mind over the past 4 years.
The attention this car has received, along with countless accolades including being awarded Best Fitment of Canibeats 2010 First Class Fitment show, was my inspiration for co-founding the automotive design company JSUTAI (pronounced J-sue-tay) in late 2011. We consult, design and build custom projects geared towards fitment; however, we also contract out for body work, vinyl, and any other custom work/fabrication to meet our clients personal needs. For more info check out www.jsutai.com.
Thanks for all of the love and support throughout this journey, I've had a great experience with this car and I hope you guys did too. If you have questions about anything please feel free to email me, miro@jsutai.com.
Here's couple of photos from different wheel setups which I'm sure there are few missing.
My very first set on the car was custom polished and powdercoated Enkei RPF1, picture was taken at Hot Import Nights.
Then later came Work Equip completely rebuild and refinished. Candy blue centers, chrome lips, and gold plated hardware.
I liked the simplicity and the track feel of the Enkei RPF1's so i purchased another set. This time in much more aggressive sizing 9 +22 front and 9.5 +15 rear.
I wanted to do something a little different from the ordinary silver, gold or black finish, so i had them chrome plated with custom Enkei decals.
Work Meister for a short period of time.
Next set was Work VS-XX that came of off a drift Nissan S14. I purchased these wheels all black, chipped and scuffed up. I then stripped them, chrome plated 4 inch lips all around, replaced all hardware, new center caps, valve stems and powdercoated candy teal centers.
Here you can really see the wheels shine
Next set was SSR Professor SP1, refinished in matte gray centers and a shade lighter lips. 4.5 inch front and 5 inch rear, with black hardware and custom SSR decals.
Also matte gray matching vinyl on hood, roof and trunk.
This one is from Import Tuner magazine, i was excited to see that
At this point I knew my time with this car was coming to an end, so i wanted to do something a little different. So the mirrors were shaved along with few minor body changes. This might be a little extreme to some, but I still drove the car on daily basis, and loved every minute of it. The SSR wheels really grew on me so I refinished them in different grey, with fully polished lips. I also changed the vinyl and came up with a new design, also in chrome to accent the lips.
Rolling shot, compliments of my close friend Dave Tormey.
Close up of the vinyl.
As for my last setup, since the teal Work VS-XX were pretty popular, i wanted to do something similar to close my chapter with this wonderful and memorable S2000.
Matte teal centers, multi stage process teal lips with high gloss red hardware and custom SSR decals.
One of my favorite parts on the car is the body work of the front fenders and rear quarter panels. Front roll and slight pull, and rear just rolled.
Thanks for taking the interest, hope you at least enjoyed the photos
