The Legend

Honda first gave the world a peek at the S2000 when it was introduced as a concept in 1995. The idea was met with plenty of enthusiasm, and the manufacturer put the vehicle into production starting in 1999. The Honda roadster was produced for the next 10 years before the company pulled the plug. And more than a decade later, the legend of the S continues to grow.

Rumors and Renders

It seems like every few months, some type of a rumor emerges about Honda wanting to get back into the S2000 business. And every few months, a set of amazingly convincing renderings will make the rounds on the internet. And some will say these renderings are nothing more than unrealistic drawings. But in reality, they indicate just how strong the following for the car has become, and how much of a desire for an encore there really is.

A Detailed Creation

And this particular set of renderings is about as detailed as we've seen thus far. And that's not necessarily a surprise, as these computer-generated models keep getting better and better. The images are created by SEAT digital designer and modeler David Artola. His re-imagination of the Honda features styling cues from the original S2000, mixed in with modernized vehicle design character.

Porsche Inspiration

Interestingly, a number of styling elements in this digital render seem to be inspired by Porsche. The car is sporting Fuchs-style wheels with black spokes and a chrome lip. There's also a visually dominant ducktail spoiler at the back. The quad-exhaust tailpipes indicate the presence of an ICE.

Too Busy?

The artist sees the reincarnation of the S2000 with a lot more creases and vents than the original had. And that might be a gripe that Honda purists will have with this design. The original roadster was a timeless design because of its simplicity. And we certainly hope, if Honda is ever planning on bringing back the nameplate, that they stay with the tried and true formula and keep it simple!
