Wayback Wednesday: Supercharged 1992 Prelude Si

This 1992 Prelude can put down over 240 horses to the wheels with the help of a supercharger. But the build is so much more than just what's under the hood.

What About the Prelude?

The Prelude has a special place within the Honda family, not only because of its great looks and legendary durability, but also because of its aftermarket following. Every generation of the Prelude was truly amazing, from its inception in the late '70s, into the '80s and '90s, all the way up to its last hurrah in 2001.

Weak Aftermarket Support

However, the aftermarket for the Prelude was never really as strong as cars like the Civic and the Integra. This is why it is always impressive to see awesome builds such as this one. The 1992 Honda belongs to Jeremy Allgier, who is, like many other fans of the Prelude, obsessed with its unique personality.

Years in the Making

Jeremy's 4th-gen Prelude has been a project in the making for several years. And as apparent in these photos shot by SuperStreet, almost every panel of the exterior has received some sort of an upgrade. And that goes for the interior as well, not to mention under the hood.

Modifications and Hand Fabrication

The amount of effort that has been put into the build becomes even more impressive when you consider the fact that, due to a lack of aftermarket support, many of the parts you see here were not even intended for the Prelude. That means a ton of modification and fabrication work had to be done to get this beauty to look and drive the way it does today.

Supercharged H23A

We could spend days talking about the insanely long list of mods on the exterior and interior. But lest we forget about what is perhaps the best part of the project. The H23A VTEC 4-cylinder motor from an Accord wagon is one of the numerous parts transplanted from other cars. And the engine is aided by a Jackson Racing BB6 supercharger kit.

At Long Last

And the list goes on and on of parts that made their way onto Jeremy's Prelude including a Nissan 350Z radiator and an S2000 titanium strut bar. And those parts, like most of the others, required serious modifications before they could fit. The ARC theme is very strong under the hood, as is quite obvious. And the final result is 242 horsepower to the wheels, and so much more. Read the full story and the interview with Jeremy Allgier over on SuperStreet.
