Tiny Ford Cortina Rips With Supercharged F20C Power
Honda power turns this classic Cortina into a true dragstrip terror.
Unique Swap
Over the years, Honda's legendary F20C has become a pretty popular engine to swap in to all sorts of other brands and models. We've seen many different types of cars packing this mighty little four-cylinder under the hood, but Ash Lambert's 1963 Ford Cortina, depicted in this video from Mk2Kieran, might just be the most unique. Not to mention the coolest.
Upping the Ante
This is no straight F20C swap, either. Lambert was keen to extract more power than the engine provided in stock form, so he accomplished that the good old fashioned way - with forced induction. In this case, the car sports an HKS supercharger that seriously ups the ante in the horsepower department.

More Power
That proverbial cherry on top is enough to help the car lay down 370 BHP (375 horsepower). But in case that isn't enough, Lambert has also plumbed in a shot of nitrous that can give the F20C a boost up to 430 BHP (436 horsepower) that also comes in handy at the track, where this car clearly spends quite a bit of time.

Big Project
If the sanitary engine bay wasn't already a sign of the craftsmanship that's gone into the rest of this car, simply have a look around. After importing the car from Sweden, Lambert's father and a friend helped him completely restore it and whip it back into shape with three years of work and a full 200 hours of welding.

Looks and Goes
Today, the tiny Cortina looks fantastic - good enough to enter shows and win trophies. But Lambert would rather test it out at the track, understandably. There, the car's power level puts his suspension to the test, which consists of a custom rear subframe, Focus struts, and Fiesta brakes.

Pretty Fast
There, the car runs quite a few 12-second passes on this particular day but manages a best e.t. of 11.5-seconds at 123 miles-per-hour. That's not too shabby, but we imagine the car is capable of a bit more given its impressive power-to-weight ratio.

Intriguing Swap
Above all, Lambert has one of the coolest F20C swaps we've come across. And while there are plenty of folks out there that will sneer at such a swap, why wouldn't you want to put one of the greatest engines of all time in something old and otherwise slow?
