Swiss-Built S2000 Is One Fine Performance Machine
The latest example of the S2000's global appeal hails from yet another unlikely place.
Global Appeal
As one of the greatest sports cars ever built, the Honda S2000 has an appeal that reaches far beyond its most common markets, Japan and the U.S. We've seen folks from all over the globe work extra hard to secure their own S2000 and lovingly modify it in recent years, and the latest example of that comes to us from Switzerland in this recent feature from Autobild.

Decade of Work
This particular S2000 was built by Stephan Marti, who is the co-owner of a Swiss tuning shop dubbed Carmosphere. Marti has been working on perfecting his build for a whopping 10 years now, to enhance its JDM style with a carefully curated list of aftermarket upgrades.

Cabin Upgrades
Inside, that process started with Marti adding a set of Bride seats with racing harnesses, a Sabelt steering wheel, and a Cusco roll bar, but it's what's not present inside this cabin that's the real story here.

Weight Reduction
Marti removed all sorts of things in the name of reducing weight and going faster, including the radio, carpet, sound insulation, and virtually anything else that isn't necessary. He also fabricated new door panels and a center tunnel section and powder-coated them black.

Bone Stock
Despite this, Marti left the S2000's powerplant alone, which means that it's bone stock. He is considering adding a turbo at some point, but that kind of thing is rather expensive in Sweden - around 30,000 Swiss francs, or USD 32k, which is pretty insane. Regardless, the stock gearbox has also been fortified with a single-mass flywheel and a beefier clutch.

Exterior Enhancements
That certainly isn't the case on the outside, where this car has received a bevy of upgrades including Volk Racing TE37SL wheels, KW V3 coilovers, pulled fenders, a front lip, side skirts, smaller side mirrors, and a giant APR carbon fiber wing out back. Meanwhile, K-Sport brakes with slotted rotors and six-piston calipers help reduce weight and stopping distance.

Mr. Worldwide
Marti's S2000 is certainly a looker, and with the weight loss it's been treated to, we imagine that it's a blast to drive, despite its lack of performance enhancements. But above all, this passionate build is proof that the S2000 has a worldwide appeal that reaches beyond the car's typical markets.
