S2Ki Members Take Epic 4,500 Mile Road Trip
Gorgeous pics of an epic trip remind us why we should drive our S2000s far more often than we already do.
Racking up Miles
You'd be forgiven if you thought that nobody drove their S2000s these days. After all, there are more low-mile cars popping up for sale than we can possbily count. But here in the S2Ki forums, we like to drive our cars. That includes member Torkey, who just wrapped up one heck of a road trip with his buddy.

No Better Way
"This has been a couple of weeks coming, but I finally got some time to put everything together after my buddy and I completed a ~4500 mile/7 day road trip in our S2000s," said Torkey. "It was definitely a blast and we saw tons of the country that neither of us had experienced before. And what better way to do it than in an S?"

Long Journey
As is typical with road trips, Torkey and his pal planned the whole thing out in advance. "The goal was to find some of the best driving and most scenic roads we could find and we had 7 days to do it in. The trip spanned from our starting point in San Antonio, Texas and went through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and back home."

Lesson Learned
Day one took the duo from San Antonio to Durango, California for a total of 900 miles. They also learned a very important lesson right off the bat - how to deal with staying filled up. Since they went a long span without a gas station in sight, it took a light right foot to avoid being stranded.

One Regret
Day one was a bit boring, but day two more than made up for it. The duo went from Durango to Torrey, Utah and it went exceptionally well. "This drive was unreal. The weather was perfect, roads were dry, this was the day to make me regret not having a soft top."

Do It Again
The duo had such a great time camping in Utah that they decided to do it again on day three. This time, they traveled 330 miles up to Mapleton, doing a little bit of hiking in between some high-elevation driving.

Problem Solved
Day four kicked off with a bit of a problem, as one of the cars threw a CEL and appeared to be losing its alternator. Thankfully, a local parts store came through, they changed it out in a parking lot, and the journey continued to Reno, Nevada.

Another Swap
Day 5 took our team to beautiful Redwood City, California after they scored a set of JDM seats in Reno and swapped them out before the trip. The scenery turned out to be amazing, but Lake Tahoe was incredibly packed with people to the point of being annoying.

Good and Bad
Day six was memorable as the S2000s ran up the Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur to Indio. But then, it was time for the most grueling part of the trip - driving 1,220 miles back to San Antonio on day seven!
