S2000 Drag Races BMW M5 Competition... Because Why Not?

It's clearly a silly exercise, but this Honda S2000 doing battle with a new BMW M5 Competition is still interesting to watch.

Unfair Advantage

Let's be honest - both the AP1 and AP2 S2000 were rather quick in their heyday. These days? Not really so much. With even new minivans pumping out solid power, it just isn't fair to pit a stock classic Honda against a modern-day performance machine.

Aiming Low

Of course, YouTuber savagegeese wasn't concerned with things like fairness when they arranged this little drag racing experiment. And the S2000 wasn't even the biggest underdog in their "scientific" test.

Absolute Slaughter

The Beamer's 4.4-liter, twin-turbo, 617 hp and 553 lb-ft V8 is obviously the king of the hill in the car's first race against a 2019 Mazda Miata. Unpredictably, it slaughters that little convertible like a lion tears apart its prey.

Putting up a Fight

Next up, it's our very own favorite Honda, this time a yellow AP2 that appears to be stock. Despite going up against a car that runs a sub-3.0-second 0-60, the S2000 actually puts up a little more of a fight than the new Miata.

Analog Experience

Alright, so this race isn't what anyone would call close. But hey, the Honda driver does look like he's having a great time, right? And he also gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor instead of letting some computer do all the work for him.

True Contender

After this little debacle, things get both a little more interesting and a little more hilarious. The crew brings out a 2018 Ariel Atom 3S next, a car that might just stand a chance at dethroning the Beemer.

Feeling Salty

The bare-bones machine finally snags a victory from the M5, but it's pretty close. But hey, at this point, we were just glad to see it lose. That makes the salt in our wounds sting a little less, anyway.

Zero Advantage

To cap things off, the team then pits the M5 against, you guessed it, a Dodge Caravan. And despite spotting the minivan a four-second head start, the BMW predictably puts it to bed in dramatic fashion.

Closing the Gap

Pointless? Yes. Stupid? Well, you could say that. But personally, we found this little test to be pretty entertaining. Now let's see them run it back, but this time with an S2000 modified with some stuff that'll close the gap
