S2000 Coupe Rendering Might Be Best One Yet

Would you buy this modernized, sleek-roofed, hatchback-like S2000 coupe if Honda took a chance and built it?

Modernized Concept

The concept of an S2000 coupe is nothing new. In fact, there have been numerous attempts at dreaming up a hard top version of Honda's roadster over the last several years. Some have proved intriguing, while others are, well, quite forgettable. But this latest sketch recently dreamed up by J.B. Cars might just be the best one we've seen yet. It masterfully blends a sleek, Mercedes-like roof into a slightly modernized S2000, with refreshed taillights and even a hatch for good measure. Not to mention copious amounts of added cargo space.

Spot the Changes

Compared to the stock S2000 J.B. Cars started with, it's pretty easy to see where they made a series of changes. The biggest (aside from the roof) are those sleek LED taillights, which give the rear of the car a rather modern look. There's also a rear diffuser fitted for added posterity as well as a set of "gills" on the front fenders, which are a welcome addition that adds a sportier feel to the car.

Different Look

Naturally, there are quite a few other coupe concepts floating around, but none of them quite match up to J.B. Cars' creation, in our opinion. But this particular rendering certainly isn't bad, either. Of course, this same look has made its rounds for quite a few years now, in various forms.

Brand New

An artist named David Cava came up with this similarly futuristic S2000 coupe concept a few years back as well. This one takes things to a completely new level, however, completely redesigning Honda's beloved sports car from the front to the back. But it still retains that familiar overall shape that helped make the original S2000 a star.

Easy Fix

Of course, if you really want an S2000 "coupe" bad enough, perhaps the best way to do it is to just buy a Spoon hard top. The result is about as close as you'll ever get to an actual production coupe, without all that messy cutting, welding, and fabrication. Or just sitting around waiting for the impossible to happen.

Hopes and Dreams

Otherwise, these doctored imagines and renderings are likely as close as we'll ever get to an actual production S2000 coupe. Unless somebody tackles building one themselves. But if our beloved roadster ever does make an unlikely comeback, perhaps Honda will consider selling a fixed roof version alongside it?
