Many Merits

While the F20C and F22C1 inline fours are legendary powerplants that we obviously love, it's hard to discredit the folks that LS swap Honda's S2000. After all, GM built a real masterpiece with its modern small blocks, V8s that are incredibly reliable and offer outstanding power potential. That fact is on full display in this video from Drag Racing & Car Stuff, where an LS-swapped S2000 beats everything it lines up against at the drag strip.

Pretty Darn Quick

On this particular day, the S2000's first opponent is a Mitsubishi 3000GT, which also features a turbocharged LS powerplant underhood. The latter car gets the jump in this particular race, but the S2000 gets the last laugh with a quicker 8.49-second pass at 160 mph versus the 3000GT's time of 8.70 at 152 mph.

Beating the Sleeper

Next up, the S2000 takes on a turbocharged Ford Fairmont wagon, a super sleeper of sorts that gets a small jump and rips the front tires off the ground before the Honda blasts past it, recording an 8.61-second pass at 162 mph versus the Fairmont's 9.17-second run at 148 mph.

Pony Car Gaps

The S2000's next foe is a white Foxbody Ford Mustang, which catches the Honda driver sleeping at the line. However, the two don't get very far before the S2000 blasts past the older pony car, once again taking the win with an 8.50-second pass at 163 mph versus the Mustang's 9.46-second run at 142 mph.

Blast From the Past

Next up, we see the S2000 take on a second-generation Chevy Camaro in a bit of a blast from the past. The old car doesn't stand a chance, however, as it can only muster a 9.65 at 137 mph versus the S2000's stellar run of 8.42 at 160 mph.

Getting Quicker

As some bonus footage, this video also shows the S2000 making a few all-out passes, where it runs an 8.22 at 164 mph, which it quickly bests with an 8.21 at 164 before ripping off an 8.08 at 170 mph, and finally, an 8.07 at 171 mph.

Winner's Circle

It's pretty clear why the owner of this insanely quick S2000 went the LS route, even though the car's original four is a celebrated powerplant in its own right. Either way, we just like seeing a Honda in the winner's circle, no matter what might power it.
