Resetting the Market

Low-mile Honda S2000s might be a dime a dozen these days, but that hasn't dampened collector enthusiasm in those cars. But few can lay claim to being as unused as this 2000 model year S2000 that has a mere 34 miles on the clock. Set to cross the block at Mecum's Kissimmee auction in January, we imagine that this car is going to reset the S2000 market big time, for more reasons than one.

It Takes Two

We rarely get to hear the story of how cars like this manage to go so long without being driven, but The Drive reached out to the car's owner, Hedy Cirrincione, and got the scoop on this unused gem. Interestingly enough, she is not some big-time car collector or even a Honda nut. She simply loved the S2000 she bought so much that she purchased another one and stuck it in storage as you'd do with a good shirt or something.

Love at First Sight

Cirrincione is an admitted car fanatic, however, and she said that she "stopped dead in my tracks" when she first saw an S2000 sitting in the showroom of her local Honda dealership. She purchased the red example she saw that day, and it has served as her daily driver for the last two decades.

Light Bulb

When Cirrincione heard that a silver example was available as well, she had the idea to purchase it as well. That notion came to her from her brothers, who used to say "wouldn’t it be great to own one brand-new with no miles on it" every time they saw a cool old car. So she purchased that car, which had 24 miles on it at the time. Since then, a friend added 10 miles to the odometer, but it's otherwise unused.

Time to Let Go

Cirrincione has moved a few times since taking ownership of the silver car, and it has been trailered from house to house in the process. She has since retired, but space quickly became an issue. Thus, Cirrincione has decided to let this time capsule go to a new home, where it can be appreciated and maybe even driven. Though we doubt that's going to happen at this point.

One of a Kind

The silver S2000 has never been titled or licensed, which means the new owner will be getting what is essentially a brand new car. Everything is as it was from the dealer, including the owner's manual, which is still sealed in plastic. It's quite the find, and quite possibly the only "new" old S2000 out there.

Staying Optimistic

It'll certainly be interesting to see how much money this incredible gem sells for in January. It's hard to guess that number, but for her part, Cirrincione hopes that it hammers for $150,000. That might be a tad optimistic but given the state of the market these days, who knows?
