Hailing From Japan

When it comes to cool cars and iconic aftermarket styling, it's hard to beat the Japanese. Just take a gander at this JS Racing-built S2000, which hails from Japan's Kansai region. We recently came across the widebody wonder at Sohu, where we were presented with the Honda's rather interesting reason for existence and the evolution that followed.

Evolving Build

Even though it's an amazing looking machine, this S2000 was actually originally designed to compete in the Video Option Mountain Challenge. But from there, it took on a life of its own. That includes the bespoke bodywork, which was designed to mimic the Super GT factory racing version.

Functional and Beautiful

A host of fashionable carbon-fiber bodywork perfectly complements bright yellow paint and adds a nice bit of contrast. JS Racing's Type GT aero kit isn't just designed to look good, however. It's also designed to provide increased downforce and improved handling at both medium and high-speed tracks.

More Power

JS Racing also went to work to give this S2000 a bit of extra grunt for race duty. The original F22C powerplant was punched out to 2.4-liters, then fitted with a custom intake and multi-throat direct injection system. With a custom tune, the new combo produces an impressive 340 horsepower, quite a nice increase over the stock engine's 240 ponies.

Precise and Accurate

Toda Racing provided the four-throat direct-injection system, which resides inside the gas collection box. The whole thing is controlled by a MoTec M800 computer, which ensures concise and accurate fuel and ignition timing control for the enlarged four-banger.

Function Over Form

Inside JS Racing's S2000, you'll find that this cabin is all business. Shifts are now handled via paddles mounted behind the steering wheel, while an AIM digital dash keeps the driver informed of what's going on at all times. It's a spartan but attractive interior, one that prioritizes function over form, but not at the expense of plenty of eye candy.

Double Duty

With a fully custom suspension and forged multi-piston brake caliper setup, this S2000 was obviously built to go fast around a track. But at the same time, it's also one of the nicest looking machines we've seen in some time. All of which proves that you can have your cake and eat it, too. Especially if you're a highly-skilled Japanese tuner.
