Back at SEMA

After a 2020 campaign where SEMA went virtual, the world's largest automotive aftermarket event is back in full force this year. And a who's who of builders, OEMs, and other auto industry giants have made the trip to Vegas. Japan's largest oil company, Eneos is making their presence felt with some eye-catching builds. The coolest car in their fleet has to be this F20C-swapped E30 BMW.

Honda Power

The super-cool build looks like something out of a Need For Speed video game. And unsurprisingly, it is owned by Formula Drift Pro-class driver Faruk Kugay. Starting with a standard 1985 BMW 318i, work on the car started with a switch to reliable Honda power courtesy of an F20C power unit from the S2000. The car's new motor is capable of 240 horsepower, which is comparable to the E30 M3's output.

S2000 Drivetrain

Helping bring air into the engine bay is an AEM intake. And the unit exhales out of a Borla stainless steel cat-back exhaust system. Other custom touches include a wiring harness and tucked radiator. Mated to the S2000 engine is an S2000 transmission as well. The six-speed manual sends power down to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential.

Wide Stance

Just as important as the performance upgrades, though, are the exterior modifications. First things first, the BMW wears a Pandem V1.5 widebody kit, giving it a far more aggressive stance. The wider fenders also allow for a wider track, and thicker wheels and tires. The BMW rides on 17-inch Rotiform wheels measuring 9 inches and 11 inches in width at the front and rear respectively.

318 Transformation

Rounding off the exterior mods is an E30 M3 Evo 2 rear wing with an exaggerated extended spoiler attached. The car is suspended on KW Variant 3 coilovers. And a four-point internal roll bar adds to the chassis rigidity. It's an amazing transformation from the factory E30 BMW 318i. This and other Eneos-sponsored builds can be found at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
