Complete Mode Parfume's S2000 Parts Now for Sale in the U.S.
Proper JDM style hits America, and Mode Parfume's AP2 provides a good look at all of it.
Spending Time Together
Mode Parfume is a name that most JDM fans are familiar with, as the Osaka-based company has been producing parts for a wide variety of vehicles for years now. Recently, MotorTrend was lucky enough to get to spend some time with the company's Phantom GA-MU widebody AP2, which is a work in progress. But perhaps the biggest piece of news that stemmed from their visit is the fact that the car's various goodies can now be purchased right here in the U.S. of A.

Squared Setup
Mode is working on developing some performance parts for the S2000, but for now, the focus is on pure style. And there's plenty of that to go around. In addition to this car's Phantom GA-MU widebody kit, this car rolls on a square set of 18x10.5" SSR Professor SPX wheels wrapped in 265/35ZR18 Dunlop Direzza ZIII rubber.

Hidden Away
The aforementioned widebody kit was designed from the start to bolt onto the car seamlessly, with no visible mounting points. This took a lot more time to develop, but we think the results are worth it. Some folks like things like exposed rivets, but here, everything is hidden or tucked away. And, as it turns out, the bodywork is also quite functional.

Functional Performance
Mode Parfume's Phantom GA-MU widebody kit was also designed to provide some functional aerodynamics, too. All of its vents help disperse hot air from the brakes and provide downforce, as do the front lips and rear diffuser. This is somewhat remarkable in the world of widebody kits, which are generally only designed with style in mind.

Supporting Cast
On top of all those goodies, there are plenty of supporting characters on the exterior of this AP2. That includes the rather large Voltex Swan Neck GT Wing, a First Molding carbon-fiber "Super Bonnet," Intec LED taillights, and of course, that NSX-derived Valencia Red Pearl paint. And it all rolls on a 20-way adjustable coilover suspension with Mode's own custom brake setup with six-piston calipers and two-piece rotors.

Star of the Show
Aside from the widebody kit, Mode's in-house developed Phantom hardtop is the other star of the show, however. The beautiful piece features a recessed rear windscreen, a miniature roof spoiler, multi-tier lower portions, unique inlaid lines, ABS window frames, and real glass. And they're available in either carbon fiber or FRP to suit anyone's fancy.

Two Options
Mode's widebody and hardtop pieces are bound to be a hit with U.S. S2000 owners. The FRP hardtop costs around $2,300, while the carbon piece runs $3,250, though both of those are cheaper than a Mugen or Spoon. Toss in the widebody kit, and you're looking at around $6,500 total. If that sounds like your cup of tea, there are two places selling Mode's parts currently: AutoFashion USA and ICB Motorsport.
