AP1 S2000 Build Doesn't Care About Labels
This S2000 build chooses to go its own way.
Label Shedding
Generally, we build our cars with a purpose or theme in mind. Maybe you want to transform your car into a weekend track warrior, or perhaps just a mild cruiser. But S2KI member toreycarter chose to do things a little differently with his AP1. In fact, he's shedding labels altogether, it appears.
"Just here to share the process of building my car with everyone. It's not a track car or a show car. But who's to say that I won't venture to either?"
Major Changes
The first mod was a familiar one - wheels. The OP chose a set of Almighty Gray Regamaster Evos, which instantly transformed the look of this car. And when his buddy decided to part ways with an Amuse R1 front bumper, he couldn't resist making that swap either.

Looks and Sound
D2 coilovers and a hardtop only added to this car's visual appeal. Then, a new exhaust helped it sound much better. The OP soldiered on by improving everything he could get his hands on, which included polishing those old crusty headlights.

Showing Off
At this point, the S2000 was looking good enough to participate in some local shows. Call it enjoying the fruits of your labor, if you will. In between showing off his ride, the OP added a side strake and Gladman cooling plate for good measure.

Fresh Meats
With all this driving to shows, the OP soon needed some fresh tires. So he got his hands on some new Hanooks. And since the front fenders had seen better days, he scored some OEM replacements for those, too, along with a new antenna and Backyard Special rear spoiler.

Satisfying Setup
Next, a brand new Momo tuner steering wheel and quick tilt totally changed the way this AP1 feels. And it's safe to say the OP was digging it. "This is an awesome setup for this car, makes the car feel even more like a go-kart. The Momo Tuner just has a great feel and the JDM NSX horn button just ties everything together!!!"

Performance Party
The one thing the OP hadn't addressed to this point was performance. That ended when he picked up an AEM fuel/ignition controller and custom tune. But that didn't mean the visual stuff was coming to an end, either. A chrome Spoon strut tower brace came next, followed by a new set of Advan wheels.

Don't Stop
Even while moving to a new state, the mods didn't stop. The OP soon got his hands on a BYS front lip, Spoon mirror inserts. And then, a major change - a First Molding hood.

Going Back
After that, it was a simple matter of replacing the little things, such as OEM floor mats, door handles, and some new blue calipers. And the OP eventually decided to go with a different lip and swap back to his old wheels.

Unconventional Methods
If nothing else, the process of this build proves that despite what most people think, you don't necessarily have to have a plan going in. Nor do you need to build something that'll fit anyone's idea of a certain category!
