AP1 Cool Enough to Land in Toyo Tire's New Calendar
It might be time to go back to a printed calendar on your wall, at least so you can stare at this stunning S2000 for a month.
Calendar Feature
In the old days, landing your car in a calendar or printed magazine was the ultimate goal for most car enthusiasts. And while those things have largely been replaced by digital versions, they're still achievements to be proud of. And we imagine that the owner of this stunning S2000, recently featured over at Super Street, was more than happy to learn his car was headed for the pages of Toyo Tire's 2020 calendar.

Standing Out
We're not really surprised that an S2000 made the cut. After all, few vehicles in automotive history have retained such a devoted following for so many years. And despite the fact that we've seen just about every kind of modded S2000 you can imagine, Daniel Medrano's AP1 still stands out as a wholly unique build.

Simple and Clean
Even better, it stands out for being simple and clean, not over-the-top. This S2000 doesn't sport some wild paint job or crazy graphics. In fact, it's pretty subdued in comparison to most builds you see these days. But perhaps that has something to do with the way he was raised.

Catching the Passion
"Growing up, I was surrounded by cars due to my father's passion for old school hot rods from Chevy Chevelles to classic '70s Japanese cars," Medrano explained to Super Street. "Specifically, his old '71 Datsun 510 paved the way. Ever since then, I have been hooked."

Going Through Phases
After owning and modding a couple of other rides, Medrano eventually caught the S2000 bug. He soon purchased a clean AP1 that was completely stock at the time. But after two years of ownership, it was time for the modding to begin. He started modestly, with typical things like wheels and exhaust. But eventually, those things blossomed into much, much more.

Dare to be Different
Medrano wanted to do something different, so he started by gathering up various aero bits from a variety of manufacturers. It took a ton of trial and error to get right, as did things like the car's wheel and tire fitment and stance. As of now, the S2000's engine is stock, but Medrano is planning on punching it out to 2.6-liters in the future. He does want to keep it naturally-aspirated, however.

Stand Out Ride
Clearly, Medrano's years of hard work paid off big time. His AP1 is a stunning and unique thing to look at, and it's more than deserving of its calendar feature. But perhaps more importantly, it's also living proof that you don't have to go all wild and crazy to build something that truly stands out!
