Rare Appearance on BaT

In recent years, several desirable Honda S2000 models have emerged on the market, but few command as much attention as the 2008 S2000 CR (Club Racer) variant. With only 700 units produced for the U.S. market, this particular model—sold in British Columbia, Canada—is especially notable for its pristine, low-mileage condition. Driven just 3,500 miles (5,600 km) since leaving the production line, this example stands as one of the best-preserved S2000 CRs available today.

A Striking Apex Blue Pearl Finish

Finished in the iconic Apex Blue Pearl, the Honda S2000 CR boasts a series of features unique to the Club Racer version. Among its most distinct characteristics are the bespoke bodywork and aerodynamics, including a redesigned front fascia, a removable black hardtop, and a prominent fixed rear wing. Additionally, the car sits on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires, a fitting choice for a car built to excel in performance and handling.

Inside the Cabin: Alcantara Elegance

Step inside, and the attention to detail continues with bucket seats upholstered in black Alcantara, featuring yellow inserts and contrast stitching. These seats not only add a sporty aesthetic but also enhance the car's driver-focused appeal. Given the low mileage and excellent condition of the vehicle, the interior shows very few signs of wear, offering potential buyers a rare opportunity to experience the S2000 CR as it was intended when new.

Well-Maintained and Unmodified

Though the car has seen minimal use, it has been meticulously maintained, with service records documenting important maintenance tasks. Most notably, in 2022, McLaren Vancouver performed a service that included an engine oil change and a complete coolant flush. The original 2.2-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine remains untouched, producing the same 237 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque it boasted when new. In this unmodified form, the S2000 CR retains its authenticity and original driving dynamics.

A Modern Classic with Timeless Appeal

Despite being over a decade old, the S2000 CR’s performance figures still hold up against more modern sports cars, such as the Toyota GR86. While the latter features a larger engine, the S2000 CR’s finely tuned engineering allows it to deliver more horsepower, further underscoring its status as one of the best driver’s cars of its time.

Six Figure Sum

We recently saw this famous S2000 CR change hands for the second time in as many years, having been sold for $200K in 2022, and then $170K just recently. While this particular example has significantly more mileage, it was still expected to fetch a six-figure sum, and that's exactly what it did! $110,000, to be exact, was the winning bid on the Bring a Trailer auction, which closed on the 6th of this month.
