2022 Civic Sedan Makes Its Debut
Honda is taking its time releasing information about the new Civic. But at least now we have a production version.
The Production Version
For the first time since we were introduced to renderings and a prototype of the upcoming Civic, Honda has provided us with an update on the 2022 model year Civic's progress. The manufacturer has released the image above, depicting the production version of the sedan. And with the exception of some details, it looks very similar to the concept we saw late last year.
Small Changes
So far, that one photo of the car's front 3/4 view is all we've gotten from Honda. Comparing that to last November's prototype pictured above, the differences are almost negligible. A slight variance in the shape and size of the upper grille, as well as the folded down sheet metal design feature above it are visible. Additionally, the lower grill and the bumper cover trim have received a more finished production look, with black plastic replacing the piano black-painted elements on the prototype.

No Rear View Yet
No rearview image of the production version of the 11th generation Civic has been unveiled as of yet. But given how close the car looks to the renderings in what has been shown, we'd venture to guess any changes in the body side and rear of the vehicle will be rather minor.

Still Waiting for the Interior Shots
This Honda Design rendering of the 2022 Civic's interior was also released alongside the renderings last year. And in the same manner that the exterior will be receiving finishing touches to make it production-ready, it's likely that the final product's cabin will be pretty close in terms of styling to this rendering. Plus, what would be the point of showing off the sketch if they're not planning on building it!

Power and Drivetrain Options?
Another area where we're all eagerly awaiting more info from Honda is the power department. It would only make sense that the 11th-gen Civic will have the same powertrain and drivetrain as the current model, or a variation thereof. Their aftermarket will be champing at the bit to start tuning these. Plus, the less aggressive styling approach with this new iteration of the Honda makes it a better 'blank canvas' for modifications.
